Final Competition for the National Global Student Entrepreneur Awards to be held in Chicago on Thursday, March 3rd
GSEA is the premier global competition for students who own and operate a business
CHICAGO – February 22, 2022 – Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a peer-to-peer organization that helps its members achieve their full potential in business and personal life through life-enhancing connections, shared experiences, and collaborative learning, announced today that EO Chicago will host the United States’ final competition for the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA). The event will be held on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3, at the Gleacher Center, 450 Cityfront Plaza, Chicago. GSEA is the premier global competition for students who own and operate a business. Nominees compete against their peers in a series of local events, all leading to the final competition, which will feature 24 semifinalists from 18 states and Washington D.C. The grand prize winner will receive $10,000, the title of 2022 EO GSEA U.S. National Champion, and earn the opportunity to compete in the global competition, which will take place this spring.
“Like many of my fellow EO members, we started out with entrepreneurial dreams when we were younger and are now running successful businesses of our own,” said Scott Issen, Co-Founder and CEO of Future Founders, the GSEA U.S. Nationals Chair, and an EO Chicago Board member. “GSEA provides a global platform for the next generation of entrepreneurs to gain motivation, recognition, and mentorship from EO members to take their entrepreneurial dreams to the next level. We are thrilled to welcome the country’s top student entrepreneurs to Chicago for an exciting competition.”
The 2022 GSEA U.S. National Competition will include two rounds of competition – a private semifinals round and a public final round where EO members, entrepreneurs and business leaders will evaluate the student entrepreneurs and their businesses. GSEA is different from most competitions by focusing on the student as a founder and their entrepreneurial journey more than just the traction of their businesses.
The top seven semifinalists will advance to the final competition on March 3 at 6:20 p.m., with the winner announced at 8 p.m. Finalists will be evaluated by judges including:
- Zak Dabbas, Co-Founder, Punchkick Interactive
- Adam Robinson, Co-Founder and CEO of Hireology
- Betsy Ziegler, CEO, 1871
- Andrea Zopp, Managing Partner – CAST US Initiatives, Cleveland Avenue, LLC
In addition to the final competition, Zak Dabbas, will participate in a fireside chat with Deb Venable, the Principal and Executive Coach of Defined Acceleration, Inc. and the President of EO Chicago. This will take place prior to the final competition on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets to the finals are open to the public and available for $70 each until Tuesday, March 1 at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/gsea-nationals-march-happy-hour-tickets-251322621727.
